Five years ago today, July 10, 2017, my life forever changed.  The death of someone dear to me caused a spiritual awakening in my soul.  His death was my rebirth.  Craig, who had been my physical trainer and coach in life, went from my “life coach” to my “afterlife coach” and guardian angel.  He has been watching over me and communicating with me for the past five years.

Craig gave me the Five Spiritual Steps for healing grief and living a full life here while preparing for the afterlife.   The Five Steps are:

1.  KNOW:  Know that you don’t die.

2.  LOVE:  Love unconditionally – including yourself.  Love is all there is.

3.  FORGIVE:  Forgive yourself and others.  Forgiveness will set you free.

4.  TRUST:  Trust your Higher Self, your God, and the Universe.

5.  FLOURISH:  Knowing, Loving, Forgiving, and Trusting will allow you the freedom to Flourish.

Since we are on the theme of “five,” I want to relate some other “five-isms.” Recently I read Mel Robbins’ book, The High Five Habit and I LOVED it!   I bought five copies and shared it with people I treasure.  It even has a metaphysical twist to it at the end!  This is what Amazon had to say,

“AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER   · INSTANT INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

In her global phenomenon The 5 Second Rule, Mel Robbins taught millions of people around the world the five second secret to motivation. Now she’s back with another simple, proven tool you can use to take control of your life: The High 5 Habit.

Don’t let the title fool you. This isn’t a book about high fiving everyone else in your life. You’re already doing that. Cheering for your favorite teams. Celebrating your friends. Supporting the people you love as they go after what they want in life.

Imagine if you gave that same love and encouragement to yourself. Or even better, you made it a daily habit.

You’d be unstoppable.

In this book, Mel teaches you how to start high fiving the most important person in your life, the one who is staring back at you in the mirror: YOURSELF.

If you struggle with self-doubt (and who doesn’t?) …
If you’re tired of that nagging critic in your head (could somebody evict them already?) …
If you’re wildly successful but all you focus on is what’s going wrong (you’re not alone) …
If you’re sick of watching everybody else get ahead while you sit on the couch with your dog (don’t bring your dog into this) …

…Mel dedicates this book to you.

Using her signature science-backed wisdom, deeply personal stories, and the real-life results that The High 5 Habit is creating in people’s lives around the world (and you’ll meet a lot of them throughout this book), Mel will teach you how to make believing in yourself a habit so that you operate with the confidence that your goals and dreams demand.

The High 5 Habit is a simple yet profound tool that changes your attitude, your mindset, and your behavior. So be prepared to laugh and learn as you take steps to immediately boost your confidence, happiness, and results.”

Mel Robbins was our keynote speaker at one of our mind-blowing Arbonne conventions a few years ago.  That’s where I found out about her first best-selling book, The Five Second Rule.

“The 5 Second Rule is the secret to changing anything about your life. You can use the Rule and its countdown method to break any bad habit, interrupt self-doubt and negative self-talk, and push yourself to take the actions that will change your life.”

I use “5-4-3-2-1” blast off each morning when I wake up to throw the covers off and get out of my cozy warm bed to start the day.  And that, of course, starts with a “High Five” in the bathroom mirror.

Are you do for an awakening?  The clock is ticking …5-4-3-2-1…Nobody knows when their “number is up.”

As always, I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Next month’s blog will be about preventative measures and healing for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.  Craig was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in his twenties and I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last September.  I have some strategies and insights to share from both us.

Blessings on your endurance and awareness. Life asks a lot of us because life is miraculous, difficult, marvelous and very trying. Very trying. Tell me more about your everyday life. Actually, I am content in my nursing home. Lots of time to rest and also review and count my blessings and to give myself the challenge of staying true to myself. At 90, I am in the final days of my life. And I embrace whatever comes. ingrace, Ilene

Ilene, so lovely to hear from you. I was thinking of you yesterday when Barbra Streisand’s, “Higher Ground” came on the radio! So many joyous memories! My everyday life continues to be a giant learning experience and experiment. I’m getting my PhD in Earth School! I positively love my job at the metaphysical bookstore. I started writing my memoirs and am working on healing my Parkinson’s Disease. I still struggle each day with forgiving myself, but am making progress. Like you, I am content and embrace whatever comes. You continue to be a blessing in my life.
